Kirkwood–Buff derived force field for mixtures of acetone and water
نویسندگان
چکیده
A united atom nonpolarizable force field for the simulation of mixtures of acetone and water is described. The force field is designed to reproduce the thermodynamics and aggregation behavior of acetone–water mixtures over the full composition range at 300 K and 1 atm using the enhanced simple point charge water model. The Kirkwood–Buff theory of solutions is used to relate molecular distributions obtained from the simulations to the appropriate experimental thermodynamic data. The model provides a very good description of the solution behavior at low (xa,0.2) and high (xa.0.8) acetone concentrations. Intermediate compositions display a small systematic error in the region of highest water self-aggregation, which is removed on using larger system sizes. In either case, the activity of the solution is well reproduced over the full range of compositions. © 2003 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1574773#

Preferential Solvation of Fenofibrate in (Ethanol or Acetone) + Water Mixtures at 298.15 K
The aim of this communication was to expand the results of numerical analyses performed by Sun et al. on their experimental solubility of fenofibrate in aqueous mixtures of ethanol and acetone at 298.15 K, in terms of the evaluation of the preferential solvation of this compound by the organic solvents and water in the saturated mixtures based on the inverse Kirkwood-Buff integrals (IKBI). ...
متن کاملProperties of 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol and water mixtures
2,2,2-trifluoroethanol ~TFE! is a commonly used cosolvent in experimental studies of peptides and proteins. Although concentration-dependent TFE effects have been well studied experimentally, the exact mechanism by which TFE affects the solubility and stability of peptides is still unclear. Here we report molecular dynamics simulations of TFE/water mixtures of different composition in an attemp...
متن کاملLocal and global properties of mixtures in one-dimensional systems. II. Exact results for the Kirkwood-Buff integrals.
The Kirkwood-Buff integrals for two-component mixtures in one-dimensional systems are calculated directly. The results are applied to square-well particles and found to agree with those obtained by the inversion of the Kirkwood-Buff theory of solutions.
متن کاملDielectric and Thermodynamic Properties of 2, 3-Butanediol + 2-ethyl-1-hexanol Mixtures
Experimental results of dielectric investigations for binary mixtures of 2, 3-butanediol, 2, 3-BD, in2-ethyl-1-hexanol, 2EH, were reported for various mole fractions and temperatures (298.2-308.2) Kand they were used to calculate dielectric parameters such as Kirkwood correlation factor, excesspermittivity and Bruggeman parameter. These parameters were used to carry out temperaturedependent die...
متن کاملSolvation Phenomena of Potassium Thiocyanate in Methanol–Water Mixtures
This paper reports the results of a variety of experiments carried out for understanding the solvation behavior of potassium thiocyanate in methanol–water mixtures. Electrical conductivity, speed of sound, viscosity, and FT-Raman spectra of potassium thiocyanate solutions in 5 and 10% methanol–water (w/w) mixtures were measured as functions of concentration and temperature. The conductivity and...
